In 2011, there has 57 bracelets awarded at the WSOP and 1 to the WSOP National Circuit Champion, Sam Barnhart. Still left to be awarded is the WSOP Main event and the 7 at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE). At the end of this year there will be 959 WSOP bracelets that have been awarded total. Eight are left to be awarded this year. One will go to the winner of the 2011 November Nine, the other 7 to the WSOPE event winners.

In the early years of the WSOP, winners did not get a bracelet. In 1970, what became the first WSOP tournament, Johnny Moss won(by way of election) and was awarded a silver cup. The 1971-1974 winners where awarded a “corny trophy” according to Benny Binions daughter Becky. The 1975 winners where each awarded a sterling silver plate. It was in 1976 that the WSOP started the tradition of awarding winners bracelets.

In the 1980s, Las Vegas jeweler Mordechai Yerushalmi became the exclusive manufacturer of WSOP bracelets until Harrah’s Entertainment bought the rights to the WSOP in 2004.In the early years the bracelets where big, gold and mostly remained the same.

In the second half of the 00’s, the bracelets started getting bigger and full of bling. The braclets started containing an ever growing number of stones. In 2010, Steve Soffa of OnTilt Designs Pty Ltd decided that the  bracelet design would return to the tradition of the 70’s and 80’s where the bracelet was a heavy piece of unadorned metal. The goal was to create a bracelet that somebody would actually want to wear everyday.

The 2011 bracelets follow that theme. They are beautiful art pieces, that anyone would be proud to own. Yet they are a piece of jewelry that is very wearable, and nice. Check who won 2011 WSOP Bracelets.
