This is the hand rankings in poker. The chart below is the hand rankings for poker games where the high hand wins. The chart is based on a a 52 card deck, with no wild cards.
A straight flush is five cards in sequence of the same suit. When it is Ace- through- ten it is called a royal flush, and is the best hand in poker. If two player have a straight flush the higher one is the one that wins. If two players have the straight flushes to the same high card, it is a tie and the pot is split. Straight flush are very rare.
Four of a Kind
A four of a kind is self explanatory, it is having four off the same value cards. If two or more players have four of a kinds, the one made of higher value cards wins. If the four of a kinds are the same value the higher kicker, or fifth card is used to determine the winner. If the kicker is the same, it is a tie and the pot is split.
A full house is three cards of one value, and two of another. Often referred to as a full boat, if multiple players have one the player with the three cards of higher value wins. If more then one player has the same high value three card combination, the player with the higher two card combination wins. If the player have the same hand the pot is split.
A flush is a hand with all five cards having the same suit. If more then one player has a flush, the hand with the highest card in the flush wins. If more then one player has the same highest card you go to the next highest and so forth. If more then one player have flushes with the same value cards it is a tie, and the pot is split.
A straight is a hand where all the cards are in sequence. It does not matter what suit the cards are, only that they are all in sequence. If more then one player has a straight the one that goes to the highest, high card wins. If more then one player has a straight to the same card it is a tie, and the pot is split between all tied players.
Three of a Kind
Having three cards of the same value is called a three of a kind. If more then one player has three of a kind, the higher one is the winner. If more then one player has the same three of a kind, you look at the first and then second kickers. Obviously in some games it would be impossible for two players to have the same 3 of a kind, but in some you can. If multiple players have identical hands, the pot is split between all tied players.
The third lowest ranked hand is two pair. If multiple players have two pairs the biggest par is compared, the player with the larger one is the winner. If multiple players have the same top pair, the second pair is compared and the larger one is the winner. If multiple players have both pairs the same, a kicker comes in play. Whoever has the highest fifth card for their hand is the winner. If multiple players have hands that are identical, the pot is split.
The first hand stepped up from high hand is one pair. One pair is having two cards of the same value. If multiple players have one pair, the higher pair wins the pot. If multiple players have the same pair, a kicker is used to determine the winner. If the first kicker is the same, you check the second and then third. If all kickers are the same the pot is split.
Having no pair, and no straight or flush is the lowest hand in poker. The strength is determined by the highest card. In a showdown where both players only have a high card hand, the highest cards are compared and down to find a winner. If multiple players have the same hand, the pot is split. Deciding a hand by high card is the lowest hand.
