The news buzzing across the internet is PokerStars Purchased Full Tilt Poker. It started with a post on the 2+2 poker forum:

PokerStars has reached an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice to buy FTP. The things I heard:

* All players will be refunded 100%
* Both sites back online
* Both sites have promotions
* Employees remain in both places

A new poster posted this message, but the post was kept open based on recommendations from creditable sources. The mod keeping it open left this message:

I don’t know if this is actually true or not, and I’m no longer in the business of researching this stuff. However, I got unsolicited contacts from a number of old sources saying that this thread is worth keeping open, so I’m keeping it open.

This is a developing situation, that might just be great news for US players. The value for Pokerstars would be in the software, goodwill and prospective US player base in the future. The US government is looking to settle this situation, including serious charges levied against Pokerstars executives. This could be a very nice payday for the US officials. Also with Pokerstars recently releasing their Zoom poker, this might be a way to avoid patent litigation with any other owner of FTP Rush poker.

A Twitter post from Chili Gaming CEO Alex Dreyfuss ads a level of confirmation:

“Pokerstars buys FullTilt for a consideration of $750m, including settlement with DOJ and full balances of players (330m). I’m impressed.”

sources at e-Gaming Magazine commented about French investment group Group Bernard Tapie effort:

“efforts to obtain final DoJ approval to acquire the assets of Full Tilt Poker have ended without success,”
