The WPT Venice main event has concluded. This year saw 213 players pony up the €3000 + €300 buy-in. This was a bit of a disappointment after the record breaking numbers of WPT Prague.

This event is hosted by the storied Casinò di Venezia in Venice, Italy. Claimed as the oldest gambling house in the world, Casinò di Venezia has been open since 1638. In 1999, Ca’ Noghera, the first American style Casinó in Italy was opened near the Marco Polo airport, this is the venue of the actual poker tournament.

This years six day tournament was won by poker novice Edoardo Alescio. The final hand was a flip with Edoardo Alescio holding 5c 5s and Steve O’Dwyer holding Ac 7s. The board produced the ace that O’Dwyer was searching for but it also contained the 5h. The hand was all but over on the turn, and Edoardo Alescio was a WPT Champion and $255k richer.
